Well, another morning in the woods followed by a day of work. I went out hunting this morning in a new location that I have not hunted in the morning yet. I also went with a good friend and hunting buddy. We both were in the same general location just targeting different trails within the woods. It was a slow morning in the deer world. I personally only saw one fawn walk through the woods at about 70 yards away just after 9 a.m. However, my friend that was with me saw what he believes to be either a 6 or 8 point buck, but was never able to get a really good look to tell. The buck wandered through the woods just before 8 a.m., but the buck was between 60 and 80 yards away at any given time when he saw him. Other than, that the morning was slow, I saw a couple foxes and tons of birds. I would like to note however that it was warm, and I think the weather getting colder will be a huge help by getting the deer up and moving and get rut fired up.
