Headed back out in the woods on such a beautiful day. Wind was good for several of my stands, in fact I had trouble deciding which one to go to last night. I headed back to one of my stands that I always at least give a shot that is in Loch Raven. I got in my stand shortly before 4, around 4:45 I had a single doe come down the hill to me got right under me, she then realized something was different looked up at me and then turned around and walked back where she came from.. A little while later around 5:25 I had two does and a decent size 6 point come trotting down off the same hill the younger doe had come down earlier. They seemed spooked or at least pushed in some way, they got down to me about 40 yards away stopped for a second and proceeded to run again until they got out in the open grassy area where they slowed down and went to eating before walking up the other hill that was about 200 yards in front of me.
Didn't see anything between 5;30 and 6:30 but two foxes and tons of birds. Around 6:35 I had one single yearling doe come from a different direction walking along the thicket I was hunting. She walked 15 yards in front of me, good news for her I don't normally start shooting does until it is a little cooler. I watched her walk through the woods feeding and finally she went up the hill where the other deer had come from and was gone around 6:50. Didn't see anything else before dark but all and all 5 deer isn't a bad evening this time of year and I was just happy to be sitting out in the woods and not working!
Did you get out on Monday? How did you do?
