Earlier this season we purchased a number of the Moultrie M50i trail cameras. Our others were getting out dated and they were breaking at a rapid pace, so we replaced all of them.
We chose the Moultrie M50i because of their features, and generally we have been really happy with the Moultrie products we have had versus other manufactures.
Moultrie M-50i Game Camera The Moultrie M-50i Game Camera conceals easily and is quick to set up and program. The M-50i is equipped with an iNVISABLE NO-GLOWED flash that reaches out 80' for quality shots in total darkness. You'll have a choice of capturing quality 20MP still images or video. |
We have been using 3 of these cameras since early November and have been testing them out best we can.
Pro's: We really like the custom settings and the ability to set it up to do exactly what you want it to do. I.E. motion, plot, video or some combination of both. We also have found that the flash distance is much better than our older Moultrie cameras and is getting clear images at a distance. It has great capture speed and so far we have been able to get motion images to see that deer are fighting or running does even though it's a still image. The camera on our feeder has already taken well over 10,000 images and it is doing great. We have also tested the camera with AA batteries and also our external 12v battery which is sold separately. In both circumstances we have found battery life to be awesome.
Con's: The things we found we aren't thrilled with aren't really major concerns, they are more just things we could see making better. First is the user interface, if you aren't paying attention it's easy to get times/setting mixed up and not saved correctly. The second thing is that with the external battery or even AA batteries every time we unplug/remove them to charge you loose all settings and time, where as the older models we used would save settings for at least a short period of time and keep date and time. Again two minor things that we cant really complain about, but we wouldn't mind seeing them made a little different.
Here are a couple pictures taken with the cameras;
Overall, we are very pleased with the purchase of these cameras and they are exceeding our expectations. We have been getting clear pictures day and night and so far they haven't missed a beat. For the functionality and quality they are well worth the price. We would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a good quality trail camera that won't let you down.
