Trail Cam Update 10-14-2014

I have been super busy with work the past few weeks and dealing with some minor health issues which have kept me out of the woods.  I had to have all of my wisdom teeth out today which is again going to keep me out of the woods for another 5 - 7 days.  They said I cannot do anything like that before Saturday at the soonest. 🙁

That being said since I knew I would be contained to laying on the couch for a few days, I checked our camera's yesterday so I could update all of you with some pictures while I am down and out.

    Nice pictures. I need some advice. Normally, I hunt from a tree stand but since my young son is bow hunting now, I have set up a ground blind at a different location in a low line area. We have hunted there 3 times so far. We have spooked deer each time we walked in doing morning or afternoon. Because the deer is eating the corn I left on ground. Last Saturday I was in the blind and I had deer eating the corn about 17 yards from the blind. But when I went to draw the deer ran off. I only had one window open for shooting and I am wearing all black clothes and cap and I sitting in the back of the blind. Around 6:00pm I saw another deer approaching from a hill top about 70 yards away. The deer got within 30 yards and started stomping and would not come any closer. The wind was in my face. I am thinking the deer have associated us with the blind. Do I need to move this blind since the deer are spook by it? Or do I need to move the bait back from the blind to a distance of 25-30 yards?       Clay, You can try I number of things... What sorta of natural stuff do you have around the blind to hide it? Use branches, grass, whatever is in the area your hunting. People that hunt corn fields with them put corn stalks all over them. You need the blind to blend in with nature or until it's been there a long time they will be spooky of it. Plus, it sounds like they are either hearing you, seeing you, or smelling you at different points so at this point they could have associated the blind with danger. I would move your bait back, normally you never want to hunt closer than 20 yards, most people I know keep as you said in your comment 25- 30 yards away. Now if this is too far for you son, maybe we just need move it back some to maybe 20 yards and hide the blind a lot better. The only other thing I could think of they may be seeing is maybe your hands or face? or a reflection off of something you have in the blind, your bow or binoculars? But I would try to hide your blind better and move your corn back some, or draw a line that starts at 25ish yards and put piles in closer and let them work up to the closer ones before taking a shot. Hopefully some of these suggestions help.

    Thank you, appreciate your quick response. I will try what you said and try to blend the blind in more. I also think I will try to hunt it without corn next time that way I might just catch the deer in passing. thank you again.
